Volunteered at a film festival all week! My volunteering was in the media zone of said film festival, where there were a few miniature artistic things kids could do! There was a stop motion clay station, a green screen, and VR headsets. It was a bit overwhelming at first dealing with kids, but by the end of the week I had a pretty good grip at guiding them through the activities. The people I volunteered with were also very cool.
Had 3 interviews this week, which is somewhat of an exception for me. It was good practice but unfortunately the places didn’t really allign with my goals :/
Went to a cafe I haven’t been to before with a buddy. Probably the best seating I’ve ever experienced in a cafe. Almost every seat had some nice padding that truly accentuated the catch up by making my butt extremely comfy.
Visited the greenhouse / store my friend started working at! He works in the office they have there, but the green area had really good seatting! It was a very relaxing session there. Ended up even reading my book for almost 2 hours straight, which is a very rare thing for me to do. The atmosphere and the air made it very easy to keep reading.
Toll the Hounds. I can’t stop thinking about this book. Erikson truly just gets better and better with every book. There’s this recurring theme I’ve noticed within the book of character who have already finished their ‘life journeys’ struggling to find a reason to keep going. Berathol has no idea how to cope with his actions in the previous books. Duiker still mourns Coltaine and the events of the Chain of Dogs. Crokus doesn’t know if he still fits in the city he left over 5 years ago. The Tiste Andii continue to look for any sort of meaning in their eternal lives. Murillio tries to cope with the end of his youth. Young Harllo has to live with the understanding that he is his mom’s greatest shame. Seerdomin is stuck in the everlooming shadow of the horrors of the Panion Domin.
The above characters mindsets and mentality are brought to the front within their POV’s. All within the framework of what I believe to be Kruppe narrating. Kruppe who does not face the same problems, but can empathize what other go through. It’s a unique dynamic that I am absolutely obssessed with. Kruppe loves the world around him so much, and that love just oozes out within his narration. I teared up a bit when the reveal at the end of chapter 5 showed that.
Slay the Spire 2 was a game developed by evil evil people who want my free time all taken away from me. Sooooo addicting. Never played the first game so I have been struggling to learn. This game has the perfect ‘just one more run’ energy that I like my roguelikes having.
I finished Succession. The ending and the show as a whole left a very powerful impression on me. The day I finished the show I was genuinely in a depressive slump for a few hours. I want to write more about the show at some point. Overall thoughts though is that I adored it.
